what is an easy fish to take care of in a 2.5 gallon aquarium?

I recently bought 2 tetras but the heating lamp wasn’t strong enough to keep the water warm so they died. I want a fish that is easy to take care of and durable.
I don't want a betta or those orange goldfish and certainly not tetras again.

Saltwater vs. Freshwater aquariums……..As for the care and upkeep, is there a difference between the two?

I have always had a freshwater aquarium, so I am experienced plenty with them, but we are debating on getting a large saltwater aquarium. Are they harder to keep up? What about corals? Any information is appreciated.

78-79 degrees F
whisper filter - runs 24/7
Air stones - runs 24/7
